How to set up and use your mobile phone as a WLAN hotspot

When you use your mobile phone as a WLAN hotspot, you can share your mobile phone's Internet connection with other devices via WLAN. First you need to set up your mobile phone for Internet.


Find "Port. Wi-Fi hotspot settings"

  • Press the menu icon.
  • Press Settings.
  • Press Wireless & networks.
  • Press Tethering.
  • Press Port. Wi-Fi hotspot settings.


Edit settings

  • Press Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.


Enter the WLAN hotspot name

  • Press the field below "Network SSID".
  • Key in the required name.


Select security settings

  • Press the drop down list below "Security".
  • If you don't want to password protect your hotspot:
  • Press Open.
  • If you want to password protect your hotspot:
  • Press WPA2 PSK.
  • Press the field below "Password" and key in the required password.
  • Press Save.


Activate the WLAN hotspot

  • Press Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to activate WLAN hotspot.
  • When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), WLAN hotspot is activated.


Establish a connection

  • Do the following on the device which will connect to your WLAN hotspot:
  • Activate WLAN.
  • Find the list of available WLANs.
  • Select your mobile phone on the list.
  • Key in the password you selected in step 4, and a connection to your mobile phone is established.
  • When the connection is established, you can access the Internet from the other device.
