How to activate your mobile phone

You need to activate your mobile phone before using it for the first time and also when you've restored the factory default settings. You need to insert your SIM and turn on your mobile phone before using it for the first time.

1.

Enter your PIN

  • Press Unlock.
  • Key in your PIN and press OK.
  • Slide your finger right on the display.
  • If your mobile phone rejects your SIM:
  • Contact your distributor or service provider where you bought your mobile phone.
If you enter an incorrect PIN three times in a row, your SIM will be blocked.

Select general settings

  • Press the required language.
  • Press the required country or area.

Select connection type

  • To activate your mobile phone using WLAN:
  • Press the required WLAN or Choose another network.
  • Follow the instructions on the display to connect to the required WLAN.
  • To activate your mobile phone using the mobile network:
  • Press Use Mobile Connection.

4.

Activate or deactivate location services

  • Press Enable Location Services or Disable Location Services.
  • If you select Disable Location Services:
  • Press OK.

5.

Activate or deactivate use of Touch ID

  • Follow the instructions on the display to activate use of Touch ID or press Set Up Touch ID Later.
  • If you select Set Up Touch ID Later:
  • Press Continue.
  • Follow the instructions on the display to activate or deactivate use of phone lock code.

6.

Select option

  • If you've used an iPhone before and want to restore previous content from an iCloud backup:
  • Press Restore from iCloud Backup and go to step 6a.
  • If you've used an iPhone before and want to restore previous content from an iTunes backup:
  • Press Restore from iTunes Backup and go to step 6b.
  • If this is the first time you use an iPhone:
  • Press Set Up as New iPhone and go to step 6c.
Before you can select Restore from iCloud Backup or Restore from iTunes Backup, you need an iTunes or iCloud backup of the phone memory from your previous iPhone.

6a - Restore from iCloud Backup"

  • Press the field next to "Apple ID" and key in the username for your Apple ID.
  • Press the field next to "Password" and key in the password for your Apple ID.
  • Press Next.
  • Follow the instructions on the display to log on to iCloud.
  • Press the required backup.
  • Your mobile phone restores the contents of the selected backup.
  • Follow the instructions on the display to activate your mobile phone.

6b - "Restore from iTunes Backup"

  • Start the program iTunes on your computer.
  • Connect the data cable to the socket at the bottom of your mobile phone and to your computer's USB port.
  • Click Restore from this backup.
  • Click the drop down list next to "Restore from this backup".
  • Click the required backup.
  • Click Continue.
  • Your mobile phone restores the contents of the selected backup.
Before you connect your mobile phone and computer, you need to install iTunes on your computer.

6c - "Set Up as New iPhone"

  • To activate your mobile phone using an existing Apple ID:
  • Press the field next to "Apple ID" and key in the username for your Apple ID.
  • Press the field next to "Password" and key in the password for your Apple ID.
  • Press Next.
  • To activate your mobile phone using a new Apple ID:
  • Press Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it?.
  • To activate your mobile phone without an Apple ID:
  • Press Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it?.
  • Press Set Up Later in Settings.
  • Press Don't Use.
  • Follow the instructions on the display to activate your mobile phone.
An Apple ID gives you access to several functions on your mobile phone, such as iCloud, App Store and iTunes Store. If you choose to activate your mobile phone without an Apple ID, you can log on or create an Apple ID at a later time.
